{Meet} Leandra and Love and Flour
1. How long have you been blogging?
Since June 2011, so four years.
2. What do you blog about?
Mostly food from recipes I prepare at home, but I will write about North Carolina or a trip I take elsewhere from time to time.
3. Where are you blogging from in NC?
Charlotte
4. Why did you start blogging?
Like many of the friends I’ve made from blogging, I started blogging because I needed a creative outlet. Why I continue blogging is anyone’s guess.
5. Out of all the posts you’ve written, which one (or two) would you pick as your favorite?
Hmmm, as silly as it sounds, I would say the very first post I wrote is one of my favorites. My blog started out on a whim, so I like that I have this authentic reminder of who I was when I started out and why I wanted to blog. My favorite recipe post is probably the homemade butter mints. Those things look like a wreck, but people love them!
6. What blog(s) do you love?
This is tough. I just counted 71 blogs in my feed reader, and I know I have a least a dozen more bookmarked. Choosing my favorite food blog brings to mind Sophie’s Choice, so I’m going to take another direction and offer up Kojodesigns, which has a little bit of everything from food to crafts to pictures of Saipan.
7. What’s one piece of advice you’d share with your fellow bloggers?
Although I loathe this cliche, “You do You” is the advice I would share with my fellow bloggers. New bloggers oftentimes hear about finding their own voice, which can be difficult if you are not accustomed to tapping into your creativity. Look to what other bloggers whom you admire are doing and use their experiences as a guide, but then blaze your own trail. And don’t get caught up in vanity metrics like social media likes and follows. If you do your thing, maybe no one will come, but at least you will have something you can be proud about. I guess that’s more than one piece of advice…
8. What are you looking forward to as a blogger in the upcoming months (conferences, big blog release, book release, publishing, community, redesign, new content, etc)?
Lately, I’ve become very interested in the technical aspect of blogging. If you would have told me as recent as a year ago that I would have been interested in learning more about how the Internet works, I would not have taken you very seriously. I blog on WordPress, so I attended the WordCamp they held in Asheville back in July and learned a lot from it. So, I’m looking forward to continuing learning more about how to take control of my technology. I also love to bake cookies, so with pumpkin hitting the shelves any day now and the holidays coming up close behind, I’m looking forward to sharing cookie recipes as well.

And finally, is there anything else you’d like to add that you want people to know about you – professional affiliations, any other place they can find you, etc? I grew up in Ohio but have spent the majority of my adult life after college in Charlotte. I love North Carolina for many reasons, but I’m particularly excited about its beer scene.
