As you probably know by now, we love working with brands that have roots in NC. So we were excited when we had a chance to work with True Made Foods. They have roots in North Carolina – their carrots and butternut squash come from family-owned farms in Eastern NC. True Made Foods is making American food healthy, turning empty calories into nutrient-dense foods.
This is a sponsored post. We worked with True Made Foods to give 5 of our bloggers the opportunity to try their products.Ā
True Made Foods is Making American Food Nutritious
They started with America’s favorite sauces – Ketchup, BBQ Sauce, and Hot Sauce – adding spinach, carrots, and butternut squash to naturally sweeten them and allowing them to cut the added sugar in half. Their Ketchup tastes like the ketchup you expect, but it has half the sugar of other name brandsĀ and tons of nutrition from the vegetables. Their Veracha is a 100% vegetable Sriracha – made from tomatoes, carrots, butternut squash, jalapenos, spinach, and cayenne, it has all the flavor and no sugar. A pure Paleo hot sauce! Their BBQ SauceĀ is hands down the healthiest BBQ sauce on the market. ItĀ has half the calories of all the major brands and 25%-50% less sugar. So Lasso up the little ones and let them chow down!
How True Made Foods Began
It started as an idea to help co-founder, Kevin, to eat more vegetables and it grew from there. When co-founder, Abe, was introduced to the idea of a vegetable-based ketchup he was hooked, because as a father of four, Abe knew that a healthy ketchup is a parentās dream come true. Abe was once a stay at home dad and spends a significant amount of time trying to ensure his kids are eating as healthy as possible. But, like many modern parents, he long-ago gave in to his kidsā demands for ketchup despite it killing him that his kids loved that āred-corn-syrup.ā
So, True Made Foods created a line of Americaās favorite sauces for similar health-conscious parents and food lovers, that pack a cup of real vegetables into every bottle, drastically reducing the sugar, and adding a nutritious punch. YUM!
True Made Foods is a Veteran owned and operated company on a mission to help America eat better because we understand that real flavor comes from real ingredients and that real moments are what make a meal complete.
From the Mouths (and Kitchens) of Bloggers
We worked with True Made Foods to give fiveĀ of our bloggers the opportunity to try their products. They tasted and whipped up all sorts of deliciousness and then they share their thoughts (and photos!)Ā –Ā Plus we wanted to see what fun recipes they would create.Ā Here’s what our bloggers had to say:
Check out Jenn’s recipe here:Ā Honey Veracha Chicken & Rice. JennĀ loved the Veracha sauce and even said, “because I absolutely love the flavorĀ and canāt get enough of it,Ā I drizzled a small amount of Veracha sauce directly on top of my chicken for an added kick of spices.Ā ?”
You can check out Leigh’s recipe here:Ā BBQ Chicken or Turkey Chili Recipe. She had this to say about True Made Foods Sauces, “Let me tell you now that their sauces are finger-licking good. I loved each one and then I used all three when I cleaned out my pantry to make a BBQ chicken chili.” We think this recipe is perfect for the colder weather.
Mindy from Sweet Tea and Pasta made meatloaf with mac and cheese and a barbecue chicken pizza. Ā You can find her recipe here. She reported that “The True Made Foods BBQ Sauce was put to the test on my barbecue chicken pizza. Itās one of my favorite things to make because itās easy and tasty ā perfect for after a long day of work. I substituted True Made Foods BBQ Sauce for Sweet Baby Rayās in the pizza. The sauce is flavorful and made for a satisfying dinner.”
Similar to Jenn, Nichole from Butterscotch Sundae made a Honey-Sriracha Chicken and used True Made Food’s Veracha sauce. You can find her recipe and review here! She said she thought the chicken was, “really well balanced, pleasantly spicy and flavorful.”
Rachel, a mom, was recently disgusted to find out that her “regular” ketchup had lots of sugar in it. And when her boys were pouring lots of it on their plates to eat their chicken tenders, she knew something had to change. This time she offered her boys True Made Foods Ketchup. Here’s their review, “I told them we were trying a new ketchup. They were a bit hesitant but decided to try it anyway. Yum, this is good! they exclaimed. I was so happy to hear those words. I told them about the added vegetables in the ketchup, and they actually felt proud for eating healthy.” Read more here.
