This warmer weather lately has got us ditching our usual piping hot coffee for a nice, cooler beverage in the wee hours of the morning. So snuggle up with your favorite – iced – coffee, and prepare to {Meet} Melissa of Adventures of Frugal Mom!
{Meet} Melissa of Adventures of Frugal Mom
1. How long have you been blogging?
I have been blogging for about 6 years.
2. What do you blog about?
On Adventures of Frugal Mom, I blog just about everything that I want to blog about. That is why I consider my blog to be a jack of all trades blog. I share our adventures, soccer games galore, recipes, crafts, stories and even my 5-year Shih Tzu, Allie, chimes in sometimes to give her opinion.
3. Where are you blogging from in NC, and why do you love the area you blog about?
I am originally from the coast. I was born and raised in Richlands in Onslow County. Proud Marine Brat here but moved to Pikeville after I graduated when my dad got job as Chief of Police there. Have made Pikeville my home ever since.
4. Why did you start blogging?
A friend encouraged me to blog, and so I did!
5. Out of all the posts you’ve written, which one (or two) would you pick as your favorite?
- This one got the attention of the President of the Railhawks – An Open Letter to the Railhawks
- This one is close to my heart as I went through this with my dad – 4 Ways to Reach Out to Families During Hospice Stays
6. What blog(s) do you love?
I have several!
- Krystel from Army Wife 101 – she is an amazing blogger and friend
- Sarah from The Hot Mess Kitchen– I love how she can whip up a printable in a moment (Sarah is also an admin for Carolina Blogging)
- Deanna from Everything and Nothing from Essex
- Molly from Still Being Molly
7. What’s one piece of advice you’d share with your fellow bloggers?
Don’t be scared to try. Even if you think you won’t get something that you apply for, apply anyway. I found this out very quickly when I applied to be a Thrill Chaser for Busch Gardens Williamsburg. I thought my numbers would never be what they want and didn’t think I would get it. Imagine the shock when I got the email that I was in. The same thing with Carowinds. Never underestimate yourself, sometimes brands look beyond numbers, so just remember numbers aren’t everything. Stay true to your original plan of being yourself. Also, don’t get stuck on one design and refuse to change your blog – sometimes change is good, and it can give you a whole new outlook and a new lease on blogging.
