Chevy Brings Their A-Game to Chevy Roar Event
On Friday, February 26th, 2010, I had the opportunity to attend a blogger event sponsored by Chevy. The event was held at Lion Country Safari which is located about seven miles west of West Palm Beach and twenty miles east of Lake Okeechobee.
The Full Chevy Experience
My trip from Miami to West Palm Beach with @Dayngr, @MaryESantiago, and the Dayngrous Duo was about an hour and a half and when we arrived – it was GAME ON.
I knew we were going to get to drive a Chevy vehicle around the safari, but the vehicle that caught my eye was the 2010 Chevy Corvette. What a beauty! I knew I wanted to test drive that bad boy the minute I saw it, but I’d never been behind the wheel of a sports car like that, especially one with a speedometer that showed 200 mph. We introduced ourselves to the Chevy event staff and South Florida’s social media elite and after some conversation, it was time to take our tour around the safari.
I had the chance to drive a fully loaded Chevy Tahoe around and it was great. A seriously smooth ride on supple leather seats, with all of the bells and whistles you’d expect from Chevy.
The cruise around the safari lasted about an hour and a half with photo stops. Though the 8 mph speed limit around the park was posted for the safety of the animals, people still feel the need to go faster and disobey the signs. Thankfully, none of the rule breakers were part of our group.
It was the first time that I’d been to Lion Country Safari and I have to say, I had a great time. I really appreciated the chance to participate in the event and be able to bring my kids along for the experience. Chevy rocked it.
At the end of our little African journey through the jungle and savannas, past the lions, monkeys, giraffes, and zebras we made our way back to the meeting area on the Tahoe.
Once there, we were greeted by the staff and asked some questions about the vehicle and about the safari itself. We posed for photos, gave a few interviews and checked out the rides.
Driving a Chevy Corvette
The clock was ticking but I still had my eye on that Corvette and thought now is my chance to test drive that beauty. I couldn’t let an opportunity like that pass me by.
I got in the driver’s seat, made myself comfortable and was told to press on the brake and push the button to start the engine. Vrrrroooommmmm!!!!!!!
Those horses under the hood wanted to be let loose out there on the open road. Daniel, one of our hosts for the event, rode with me as I headed out of the park, past the 30 mph speed zone and on to the open road.
As Daniel explained the corvette’s features to me, he leaned in and said, step on the gas.
Man, that speedometer went from 40mph to 80 mph in a matter of seconds. You want to talk about some power, 400 plus horsepower under the hood, automatic/manual transmission with shift paddles on the steering wheel. What a dream. The Corvette is a perfect toy for any sports car enthusiast.
All in a Day for the Life of a Blogger
I hated having to head back. I could have driven that ‘vette all day. But, it was getting late and everyone was waiting for their turn to take a test drive.
Believe me, if I had that kind of money to spend on a sports car, the Chevy Corvette would be it. Forget about those Mustangs I’ve been loving for years, they’ve got nothing on the Corvette. Chevy won me over.
Can we get a 2010 Chevy Camaro at the next event? If so, count me in!
Let's keep the conversation going ...
