Energy Flows Where Attention Goes
Today’s Motivational Monday quote is all about energy! I think it’s on point, too. Your energy flows where your attention goes, or as I also like to say, where you stare, you steer. Whatever it is you’re giving your attention to is where all your energy is going.
The idea behind “energy goes where attention flows” is simple: what you focus your attention on, we give energy to. For example, if you spend most of your time worrying about your problems, you give them more power, making them seem more significant and overwhelming. On the other hand, if you focus on positive aspects of your life, such as your achievements and the people you love, you will give more energy to those positive experiences.
Another way to apply this concept is by being mindful of our thoughts and emotions. Our thoughts and feelings are closely connected, and our emotions can influence the energy we give to our thoughts. For example, if you feel angry or frustrated, you may give more energy to negative thoughts, which can lead to a cycle of negativity. However, if you can learn to be more mindful of your emotions and thoughts, you can choose to direct your attention and energy toward more positive experiences.
If you’re feeling drained more often than not, it’s because you’re focusing on things that are less than positive. Try redirecting your focus to the more positive aspects of your life or day, and you’ll immediately feel a change in your energy.
Making Time for What’s Important
If you’re working toward a goal, direct most of your energy toward it. I know this sounds obvious, but think about it for a minute. How often have you said you didn’t have time for something important to you, then spent your weekend binge-watching Netflix or playing those incredibly addictive games on your mobile device? We either make time for what’s important, or we make excuses. Where are you directing your time and energy?
In your personal relationships, “energy goes where attention flows” can help you cultivate more meaningful connections. When you focus your attention on your loved ones, you give more energy to your relationships, making them stronger and more fulfilling. For instance, if you want to improve your relationship with your partner, you can make an effort to spend more quality time with him or her, listen attentively, and express your love and appreciation.
In conclusion, “energy goes where attention flows” is a powerful concept that can help you create positive change in your life. By focusing your attention on your goals, emotions, and relationships, you can direct your energy toward positive experiences and outcomes. Whether you’re striving for personal growth, professional success, or more fulfilling relationships, this quote reminds us all that we have the power to shape our experiences through the energy we give them.
