{Meet} Lauren of Life with Lauren
1. How long have you been blogging?
I’ve been blogging since March of 2011.
2. What do you blog about?
I cover lifestyle topics. I focus a lot on relationships, friendships, and basically anything that can make your daily life happier, more productive, and more peaceful.
3. Where are you blogging from in NC?
I live in Charlotte.
4. Why did you start blogging?
I’ve always loved writing and thought blogging seemed like a fun hobby. I was still trying to figure out my post-college life, and blogging seemed like a good way to sort my thoughts out and connect with people. Also I hadn’t really found my “thing” in life yet, so I thought I’d give it a shot and see if it helped to give me direction. Blogging quickly became much more than just a “what should I do with my life?” exercise though; it’s now my passion and part of my business!
5. Out of all the posts you’ve written, which one (or two) would you pick as your favorite?
My two favorites are probably: “How the Most Nerve-wracking Thing I’ve Done In a While Made Me Better (And Then Gave Me Strep Throat)” and “We Celebrate Marriages. We Celebrate Babies. Why Don’t We Celebrate Being Single?”
6. What blog(s) do you love?
I’m a big fan of Cupcakes and Cashmere and also rely on Skinnytaste for great recipes. And my friend LeAndra’s blog, Love and Flour, is beautifully done!
7. What’s one piece of advice you’d share with your fellow bloggers?
I always try to incorporate a personal touch into my posts, but also focus on making them appealing to people who don’t know me. I don’t enjoy reading blog posts that read strictly like diary entries. I want to read a blog that sheds some light on who the blogger is, but also teaches me something or makes me think about a topic in a way that I might not have before.
8. What are you looking forward to as a blogger in the upcoming months (conferences, big blog release, book release, publishing, community, redesign, new content, etc)?
I’ve redesigned my professional portfolio, www.writtenbylauren.com, so I’m excited about having a new, fun site to work with. I’ve also recently written for U.S. News & World Report, so that was exciting!
