1. How long have you been blogging?Â
For three years, and wow has the time flown by!
2. What do you blog about?
Chubs Lived Here is a lifestyle blog with an emphasis on decorating and a good mix of running, health, and my dog. It’s pretty much whatever is going on in my life at the moment.
3. Why did you start blogging?
Writing has always been my dream, but I got caught up in the never-ending cycle of making money and paying bills. Quitting my day job to write didn’t seem like it would cover my living expenses and health insurance, but one day I thought, why not do both? And so CLH was born.
4. What is your FAVORITE post you’ve ever written (you can pick 2)?
That’s tough because I write such varied posts. I think the most dramatic visual transformation is shown in One Room at a Time – Dining, where I took my dining area walls from light grey to black. It turned out beautiful! One of my other favorites is a recent post, Why I Have a Tattoo, wherein I shared my feelings about surviving cancer and the mantra that gets me through the day.
5. What blog do you love?
I really enjoy reading Beard & Pigtails, a single Dad writing about whatever crosses his mind—usually running, traveling, home remodel, and family. It’s nice when a writer invites you into their life and really shares. I hope my readers get a similar sense from Chubs Lived Here.
6. What is your biggest piece of advice for other bloggers?
Something I learned at an NCBN blogging conference: write it if you feel it; don’t force a post just to have content. I have made that mistake and I cringe when I go back and look at a couple of those posts. It’s obvious to me and I’m sure it is to my readers as well. I’m so sorry!
7. What are you looking forward to for you as a blogger in the upcoming months (conferences, big blog release, book release, publishing, community, redesign, new content, etc)?
I’m 99.9% sure a name change is coming for Chubs Lived Here this year. CLH has special meaning to me, but I feel readers need something they can identify with better. I hope to get to know some of our local bloggers a little better as well. There is so much blogging talent right here in NC, and I’m humbled to be in the NCBN community with you all!
