Happy Friday! Today we’re spotlighting another sweet member of our North Carolina Blogger community. Are you ready to {Meet} Jenna of NC Bride to Be? Let’s go!
{Meet} Jenna of NC Bride to Be
1. How long have you been blogging?
I am the co-publisher of Southern Bride and Groom magazine, alongside my mother who founded the company. I have managed our blog, NC Bride to Be, for the past 7 years that I have worked with Southern Bride and Groom. At this point, our fabulous chief blogger Amber Watson creates most of the posts, but I occasionally write articles or event recaps
2. What do you blog about?
NC Bride to Be, is heavily focused on local weddings – from real wedding stories, to styled shoots produced by the talented local professionals, to spotlights on vendors and wedding shows. We also follow community events that appeal to our audience – young, mostly-engaged, and mostly women. So that means we cover local fashion, food and charity events.
3. Where are you blogging from in NC, and why do you love the area you blog about?
We are based in Durham, NC. Our magazine focuses on the Greater Triangle Area, but we do post a good bit of NC destination real weddings spanning from the mountains to the coast.
4. Why did you start blogging?
Our blog is an accompaniment to our annual magazine, which is a curated collection of the best local wedding resources. There is so much going on in the world of weddings from events, to venue openings, to inspirational industry events that the blog enables us to communicate to our brides on a regular basis.
5. Out of all the posts you’ve written, which one (or two) would you pick as your favorite?
NY bridal market has been one of my favorite recurring events to cover over the past few years. I have attended with a photographer to document many of the new collections by favorite designers carried by our local Southern Bride and Groom preferred bridal salons. This way we can share some of the new styles that will be heading to NC the following season – and where they can be found. Here is one example (of several posts): Designer Spotlight: Amy Kuschel
I am also proud to cover same-sex weddings on our blog and in our magazine. I did one of my all-time favorite magazine features as soon as legislation passed for the 2015 magazine. We included a feature on the first same-sex first to wed here, Chad Biggs and Chris Creech. They hosted a formal reception in 2016 with help from several members of the Southern Bride and Groom family and local wedding community, and it’s featured in our current magazine. Here is their engagement post from last year: Celebrating Marriage Equality in NC
6. What blog(s) do you love?
- Shout out to our lead blogger’s other project, Bites of Bull City
- Up-and-coming power brand for sustainability, Durham Originals
- Always love the material from Clarion Content and New Raleigh

8. And finally, is there anything else you’d like to add that you want people to know about you – professional affiliations, any other place they can find you, etc.
When I’m not at work, you might find me walking on the Eno with my daughter riding on my back, lounging at the apartment pool of any friend who will have me, or sipping a Fig Saison at Ponysaurus.

A Fig Saison?! That sounds amazing! So nice to “meet” you!
