Get to know NCBN memberĀ Julie Wunder of Running in a Skirt
1. How long have you been blogging?
I have been blogging for a little over two years. Ā Iāve learned so much along the way and still am learning new tips and tricks almost daily!
2. What do you blog about?
Running in a Skirt is my way of sharing a personal journey to find balance in my life through fitness, good food, stylish surroundings and travel.Ā My blog is a resource for healthy living ideas, including recipes, everyday fashion and travel. Each week I develop and post fresh new recipes with mouthwatering photographs, easy to follow workouts or running tips and fabulous, yet approachable, fashion ideas.Ā I also share my experiences traveling, running and living in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina.
3. Why did you start blogging?
Running in a Skirt started in the summer of 2012 when I was training for the Chicago Marathon while raising money for Girls on the Run as a SoleMate.Ā I started writing about running to help my fundraising efforts.Ā I ran my marathon (yes, in a skirt) raised money for a great group and had so much fun sharing my experience on this blog, so I decided to keep blogging after the race. As time passed I discovered I had a lot more to blog about than running on Running in a Skirt.Ā The blog morphed from a running blog to a lifestyle blog with a runnerās heart.Ā I like to say, āIām running through life in a skirt!ā
4.Ā What is your FAVORITE post you’ve ever written (you can pick 2)?
I should probably share some of my recipes here because I have been really working on my food photography recently, but my true favorite of all time is a post about my mom. 50 Life Lessons from My MomĀ
Another favorite of mine is a recent post about a hike to Black Balsam Knob along the Blue Ridge Parkway.
5.Ā What blog do you love?
I have read Peanut Butter Fingers for years.Ā I also love some of my friendās blogs like A Spicy Perspective and Love Jaime.Ā I am such a fan of blogs, I read dozens a day and feel attached to them all.Ā It is hard to pick just a few.
6. What is your biggest piece of advice for other bloggers?
Be consistent in posting.Ā I notice the biggest gains in readers and engagement when I post on a consistent basis.Ā I also enjoy reading other blogs that post regularly.
7.Ā What are you looking forward to for you as a blogger in the upcoming months (conferences, big blog release, book release, publishing, community, redesign, new content, etc)?
I recently left my full time job as the morning news meteorologist on local TV to blog full time.Ā That was a huge step for me and I have been able to make many improvements to my blog in just a few months.Ā I am looking forward to making more of those improvements in the coming months.Ā My next big to-do is to do add videos on youtube!
