Big Fat Fluffy Snow Flakes along North Carolina’s Crystal Coast

ScionSnowSnow! I couldn’t believe it but it snowed this evening in Jacksonville, NC!

As soon as I got word it was snowing I picked the kids up from their play-date and we went in search of the ever elusive snow. I’d been telling them that if the temperature dropped below 32 and the conditions were just right, they might get to see snow for the first time. So, I knew they’d be excited to get their first look.

We hopped in our little crossover and headed toward Jacksonville. We didn’t have to go to far before the rain turned into snow. We were just leaving Swansboro when we started to see great big, fat, fluffy snowflakes. The kids couldn’t contain their excitement so I ended up pulling over in Piney Green so they could get out and catch a few snowflakes, spin around and enjoy themselves.

Back home, we didn’t get anything more than a flurry so I’m glad we drove a little so they could have a fun first experience. Let’s hope we get a little more soon so they can really enjoy themselves!
